Service for pre-notification entry management

This “e-puertobilbao” platform service makes a telematics channel available to its community of users through which a medium is given to the pre-notification entry procedure for road/rail transport traffic in the Port of Bilbao.

It is the first of a series of services whose aim is to enable the logistics transit of goods entering or leaving the Port of Bilbao by land. It will be linked with future services for land transport order processing and the management of goods admission and delivery.

The operational functioning of this service – aimed at transport and stevedoring (terminals) companies – allows the “e-puertobilbao” platform to transfer information about transport vehicle (either lorries or trains) arrival at the Port’s access control system and at the destination terminal (stevedoring companies).

In this way, vehicles enter the Port through automatic barrier opening without any need to wait. Since the terminals also have this information, they can optimise their operation planning, and likewise establish an automated entry system.

The main added value this service contributes to the user community is the elimination of waiting times of vehicles entering the Port and at terminals (stevedoring companies). In addition, it increases security levels within the Port area and provides the Port Authority and the stevedoring companies with a system which allows road transport flows to be regulated and port operations to be optimized.
