What is e-puertobilbao

The e-puertobilbao telematics platform is the Port of Bilbao Authority’s (APB) pledge to improve document interchange and communications with companies in the port community in such a way that its services offer enables the maximum competitive positioning possible for the companies participating in the Bilbao maritime-port business.

The e-puertobilbao initiative was born with a vocation to become the platform of reference for providing electronic commerce services within the whole user community of the Port of Bilbao. In order to achieve this, the Port Authority reached an agreement with all the parties involved, so as to constitute and gain the loyalty of the different agents that make up the port sector in a virtual community.

What e-puertobilbao is?

e-puertobilbao is an electronic commerce platform whose aim is to maximize communications and facilitate interaction among the different companies in the Bilbao maritime-port community. Its fundamental goal is to achieve greater speed and efficiency in the passage of vessels and goods through the Port, in such a way that companies and Port as a whole will be more competitive.

Its philosophy is based on five underlying principles:

Simplification

To present users with only one communication interface.

Re-use

Users of the system only have to send their data once, and later, these can be re-used, updated or completed.

Uniformity

Based on format standardization and the use of internationally agreed standards (EDIFACT/XML/JSON).

Electronic automation

That is, paper-free communication, which means speed, reliability and availability of information at all times.

Transparency

Traceability and transactions control.

Our mission

To develop and offer telematics services contributing value in the form of improvement in processes, coordination, innovation and improved competitiveness to the final product, which is the sum of the services offered by the Port of Bilbao.

e-puertobilbao is a project headed by APB, whose development guidelines are marked by the Port Community companies.

Since the time of its conception, the strategic focus of e-puertobilbao has been based on offering services with a clear added value for it community of users, with a clear correlation with the processes making up the port logistics activity chain.

Continuous improvement

Along 2017, in the e-puertobilbao telematics platform, we have made 11 updates, with them we have gained in functionality and corrected some minor error.

High availability

Along 2017 we have dedicated to the tasks of updating and improving a total of 14 hours so that the availability of our PCS (Port Community System) has hardly been affected (0.2%).

Managed processes in e-puertobilbao

The e-puertobilbao telematics platform began its journey in 2003 with a single service: the Call Request (PIDE). In that first year the companies that used the platform were around 20.

In December 2017, the number of available services amounts to 10, registered companies are more than 724 and more than 1347 users use our services daily.

The e-puertobilbao telematics platform is present in all the processes of the logistic-port chain, reaching in most of them the 100% usage quota.
